Cavafy, an Alexandrian born poet once wrote about Alexandria: “This city will always pursue you.” That’s exactly what this archaeologically based article says about Alexandria. Many people reject this lost city and what it has to offer in favour of more mainstream cities such as Cairo and Giza.

This article explores the ancient grandeur of Alexandria and the history that played a part in shaping the city that Alexandria is today. Don’t be fooled by the melancholy tone of the article though. Alexandria, despite being an unpopular choice of city, remains one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the world.
